Dive Site Simulator
by Peter Clarke [ peter@thisismydna.com ]

The Dive Site Simulator allows you to explore a virtual 3D dive site without geting your feet wet.
The Dive Site Simulator uses Shockwave 3D, so you need the free Shockwave plug-in from Macromedia installed.

You control your movement wih your keyboard. The up arrow moves you forward, The down arrow brings you backwards, and the left and right arrows turn you left and right. 'A' makes you descend,'Q' makes you asscend.
There's a row of buttons along the bottom that activate a number of features, such as a map, a sonar display and a giide rope. Click them to see what they do.

There's a fully featured dive console with compass, depth gauge, timer and odometer.

In the dive site you'll find fish, a shark (don't worry, he doesn't bite), kelp, a cave, lobsters and a mysterious ship wreck.

If you end up getting lost or disorientated, press A to rise to the surface and turn around to see where you are. Use the map and the compass to help get your bearings. If all else fails, just refresh your browser to being you back to the start.

Known issue with Safari on MAC OS X

There's an bug in Safari that causes Shockwave 3D content to display in the wrong position. This is a cosmetic issue, and does not affect performance. The Dive Site Simulator will work fine with Safari, but the 3D window wiil be about 20 pixels out of place.

Bluetooth Remote Control

If you have a Sony Ericsson K700i and a bluetooth enabled computer, you can use your phone as a Bluetooth remote Control for the Dive Site Simulator. Download this Bluetooth HID profile to your desktop, send it to your phone and choose "DSS" from your phone's Connectivity:Bluetooth:RemoteCOntrol menu.
This HID file may work with other SE phones too [S700, Z800, K750 and maybe more], but it hasn't been tested with them.

Enjoy!
